Patient Safety Attendants (PSA)
The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The Sitter may also assist with basic activities of daily living.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider
- One year recent experience in a hospital environment preferred

Patient Care Tech (PCT)
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP).
Qualifications
- CNA training program preferred
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider
- 1+ years of experience as a PCT in an acute care setting preferred

Patient Care Tech Apprenticeship Program
PCT Cohort
If you are accepted into one of our upcoming Cohorts, your BLS certification, text books, supplies, uniform, and tuition will be covered for the 12 week Patient Care Tech (PCT) course. Clinicals will be completed during the holidays at our facilities.
Earn While You Learn
As part of the cohort, you will secure a PRN Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) position. You will work one 12 hour shift per week at our Medical City hospitals until you obtain your TX State certification as a Patient Care Tech.
Continued Growth
